Job Description
Make a real impact in young people’s futures
Are you passionate about helping young people transition from school into meaningful employment? Join Mai-Wel as an Employment Coach and play a key role in supporting eligible school leavers to build confidence, skills, and sustainable career pathways.
About the role
This is a rewarding, front-facing position supporting participants through personalised, strengths-based coaching.
You’ll work closely with students, schools, and employers to help young people overcome barriers and achieve long-term employment outcomes aligned with their goals and aspirations.
This role is part of the Eligible School Leaver Pilot Program, with the opportunity to continue as an Employment Coach within IEA beyond the pilot.
Key responsibilities
Provide tailored case management to participants
Build strong relationships with schools and referral partners
Identify and engage eligible school leavers
Conduct initial interviews and create individual job plans
Support participants into employment, training, or education
Assist with job search, placements, and workplace adjustments
Address vocational and non-vocational barriers
Monitor attendance, engagement, and progress toward employment
Maintain accurate case notes and system records
Desired Skills and Experience
About you
You are people-focused, proactive, and driven to make a difference.
Essential:
Experience working with people (e.g. customer service, community services)
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Excellent organisation and time management
Understanding of strengths-based or person-centred approaches
Awareness of barriers to employment, especially for young people
Ability to manage administration tasks accurately and on time
Current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
Experience in employment services, youth services, or community services
Knowledge of Workforce Australia / IEA programs
Understanding of trauma-informed practice
Relevant qualification (Cert III/IV or higher in Community Services, Disability, Youth, or similar)
